🚀 Getting Started

How do I download Inertia Planner?

iPhone users: Download Inertia Planner from the App Store.

Android users: Android version is not currently available due to version compatibility issues with our development setup. We're working on resolving this but don't have a timeline yet.

I'm new to the app - where should I start?

Quick start: First, select an App Format - we recommend starting with the Health Format preset. Then use templates to get started instantly! Browse workout splits, diet plans, or goal templates to begin with pre-configured data.

Don't try to set up everything at once - start small and build from there.

What's the best way to learn the app?

Start with one area that matters most to you:

  • Fitness focus: Use a workout split template (Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, etc.) and start logging workouts
  • Nutrition focus: Use a diet plan template and track your meals
  • Personal growth: Use a goal template (Train for a Marathon, Build Muscle Mass, etc.) to see how projects and habits work together
  • Life organization: Try the Student or Work format preset to manage tasks and scheduling

Once you're comfortable with one area, expand to others!

How does workout tracking work?

The workout system follows a structured approach:

  1. Create Workout Splits: Design training programs like Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, or custom splits
  2. Build Workouts: Add specific workout sessions within each split using our exercise library or custom exercises
  3. Log Sets: Report reps and weight for every set, building detailed workout history
  4. Track Progress: View personal records, volume progression, workout duration, and exercise statistics

The app includes a comprehensive exercise library with muscle groups, equipment types, and exercise classifications. You can also create your own custom exercises to add to your personal library.

How does nutrition tracking work?

Nutrition tracking mirrors the workout system:

  1. Create Diet Plans: Design nutrition strategies for weight loss, muscle gain, or maintenance
  2. Plan Meals: Build specific meals using our food database or custom foods
  3. Log Portions: Report actual amounts consumed for precise tracking
  4. Track Nutrition: Monitor daily macros, calorie goals, meal history, and nutritional charts

The food database is organized by categories with complete nutritional profiles and custom unit measurements.

Can I track both workouts and nutrition together?

Absolutely! That's the core strength of Inertia Planner. The Health tab includes both comprehensive fitness tracking and detailed nutrition planning designed to work together for complete wellness management.

Many users combine workout splits with diet plans to optimize their fitness journey - tracking both training and nutrition in one unified system.

What's the Activity Feed?

The Activity Feed shows your progress and friends' updates in one place - workouts completed, meals logged, habits tracked, and tasks finished. It's designed to build accountability and inspiration through shared wellness journeys.

You can see what your friends are working on, celebrate their achievements, and stay motivated by being part of a community pursuing health and growth together.

What are templates and how do I use them?

Templates help you overcome the inertia of starting something new by providing complete, ready-to-use programs with all data pre-configured. Instead of building everything from scratch, you can start immediately.

To use templates:

  1. Click the 🗂️ folder icon from any list view
  2. Browse available templates by category
  3. Click a template card to view details
  4. Click "Use Template" to add it to your account

What types of templates are available?

Workout Split Templates:

  • Push/Pull/Legs - Classic 3-day split
  • Upper/Lower - 2-day or 4-day split
  • 5-Day Bro Split - Traditional bodybuilding

Diet Plan Templates:

  • Weight Loss - Caloric deficit focus
  • Muscle Gain - Protein and surplus optimization
  • Maintenance - Sustain current weight

Goal Templates:

  • Train for a Marathon, Complete a Spring Triathlon, Lose 30 Pounds, Build Muscle Mass
  • Each includes projects, habits, milestones, tasks, and notes

What's the difference between professional and community templates?

Professional Templates: Created by our team based on research and established methods. These provide structured, proven paths to success.

Community Templates: Shared by users from anywhere in the world who've achieved real results with their custom programs. When you succeed with your own program, you can share it as a template to help others overcome their initial inertia.

Community templates let you browse real-world proven systems from people with similar goals worldwide.

Should I use templates or build from scratch?

Start with templates! The hardest part of any journey is starting. Templates provide the initial force needed to overcome inertia with all workouts, meals, habits, and tasks pre-configured.

You can always customize templates after using them, or create your own programs once you understand how the system works. Templates help you focus on execution rather than planning from day one.

How do App Formats work?

App Formats let you create personalized productivity layouts by selecting tabs that match your workflow. Choose from 15 specialized tabs organized into 5 categories:

  • Centralized: Home, Planner, Dashboard
  • Organization: School, Management, Timelines
  • Consistency: Habits, Routines, Events
  • Collaborative: Groups, Community, Bulletin
  • Growth: Goals, Health, Philosophies

Select 3-5 tabs per format (Free and Premium 1 users) or 3-7 tabs (Premium 2 and Pro users) and arrange them in the order that makes sense for your workflow.

What are the built-in format presets?

Can I have multiple formats active at once?

Yes! You can switch between formats based on your current focus:

  • Free and Premium 1: 1 active format with up to 5 tabs
  • Premium 2 and Pro: Up to 3 active formats, each with up to 7 tabs

Multiple active formats let you have different setups for different contexts - like a School format during the semester, a Work format for your job, and a Health format for your fitness journey.

Which tabs should I choose?

Start with what matters most to you right now. Don't try to use everything at once!

For fitness: Health + Habits + Home + Planner

For students: School + Health + Dashboard + Groups + Home

For professionals: Management + Goals + Planner + Routines + Home

For personal growth: Goals + Philosophies + Habits + Timelines + Home

What is the Philosophies tab?

Philosophies is for personal principles sharing and life narrative discovery. It's a space to:

  • Document your personal values and guiding principles
  • Collect wisdom and insights from your journey
  • Share your philosophy with others
  • Reflect on your life narrative and what matters most

It's the mental growth component of the wellness ecosystem, complementing physical health tracking.

How does the gamification system work?

The Dashboard tab includes a gamification system to make progress engaging:

  • XP System: Earn experience points for completing activities
  • User Levels: Level up as you make consistent progress
  • Achievements: Unlock achievements for milestones and special accomplishments
  • Leaderboards: See how you compare with friends and the community

It makes reaching your fitness and wellness goals more rewarding and fun!

What's the difference between projects in different tabs?

Projects work the same way (milestones and tasks) but have different contexts:

  • School tab: Assigned to a specific class (like "Research Paper for History 101")
  • Management tab: Professional deliverables (like "Q1 Marketing Campaign")
  • Goals tab: Personal projects that combine with habits to achieve broader goals (like "Nutrition Foundation and Meal Planning" project + "Daily Cardio Exercise" habit within a "Lose 30 Pounds" goal)

The project functionality is identical - it's the organizational context that differs.

How do habits work?

Habits are time-based goals for building consistency. You can set habits to:

  • Maintain: Keep doing something at your current level
  • Increase: Gradually do more of something beneficial
  • Decrease: Gradually reduce something you want less of

Track your consistency over time and see streaks build. Habits can be standalone or part of broader goals.

How does batch scheduling work?

Batch scheduling lets you schedule multiple items efficiently:

  1. Go to the Planner tab → All Items
  2. Select items you want to schedule (checkboxes)
  3. Tap the scheduling button to access the weekly view
  4. Click an item from your list, then click a green time slot
  5. Repeat until everything is scheduled

Green slots indicate available times for that item type. This makes planning your entire week much faster.

What's the difference between Free and Premium?

  • 1 active App Format with up to 5 tabs
  • Access to all core features
  • Ads displayed in the app

Premium 1:

  • 1 active App Format with up to 5 tabs
  • Ad-free experience
  • Access to all core features

Premium 2:

  • Up to 3 active App Formats with up to 7 tabs each
  • Switch between different contexts seamlessly
  • Ads displayed in the app
  • Access to all core features

Pro:

  • Up to 3 active App Formats with up to 7 tabs each
  • Switch between different contexts seamlessly
  • Ad-free experience
  • Access to all core features

All tiers have full access to all features - the differences are in format flexibility and ad experience.

Can I try Premium features before subscribing?

Start with the free tier to learn the app! Once you're comfortable and want more flexibility with multiple formats (like separate School, Work, and Health formats), upgrade to Premium.

Many users start free and upgrade once they realize they need different formats for different areas of their life.

Will I lose data if I downgrade?

Your data is preserved! If you downgrade from Premium to Free, you'll just need to select which 1 format to keep active (with up to 5 tabs). Your other formats and data remain saved - you just can't access them until you upgrade again.

🔧 Troubleshooting

The app crashed - what should I do?

Sorry about that! Here's what to do:

  1. Try reopening the app
  2. If it keeps crashing, restart your phone
  3. Submit a bug report with details about what you were doing when it crashed
  4. Include your device model and iOS version

You can also email us directly - crashes are high priority!

A feature isn't working the way I expected

This could be a bug or a design issue. Either way, we want to know!

  • What you were trying to do
  • What actually happened
  • What you expected to happen

This feedback helps us make the app more intuitive for everyone.

I can't find a feature

A few possibilities:

  • It might be in a different tab than you expect - check all your active format's tabs
  • It might require a specific tab that's not in your current format - try adding that tab to your format
  • It might be a UI issue where something isn't visible when it should be
